My 4 kids!

Chelsea's Baptism

Chelsea was baptized tonight in a horse trough at Canyon View Vineyard tonight. She was sprinkled (as I was) in the Lutheran church as a baby, and decided to be baptized by immersion tonight. It was wonderful to celebrate with her, and to pray for more of the Holy Spirit. Wade and DJ (the youth pastor) both baptized her!

Wade and Chelsea are Engaged!!!

It is official - Wade and Chelsea are engaged! He gave her a beautiful and simple ring and they set the wedding date for June 27, 2009! We are thrilled for them, as is her family. Although they are young, we are so pleased with their maturity and their adult wisdom. God is good and this is everything I have prayed for - for my son- a Godly woman and a good family. We love her family, so couldn't be more pleased! Below is a letter that Chelsea posted on Face Book that tells the story. It's beautiful to read. Thank you Lord!

Dearest Friends ~

Wade Yamaguchi and I are engaged to be married!

I just wanted to write a little note recapping the last year and how God has and continues to work beautifully in Wade and I's relationship. I would first like to say how blessed I am, and that I am a living testimony of God's faithfulness in ALL life situations. The journey Wade and I have had together this year has been completely orchestrated and possible by God and we give him all the glory.

Let’s talk about distance. For me distance was like a math equation. A big one that I never thought I could calculate. God called Wade and I to discover intimacy and friendship in the distance but this was so far from my "perfect plan." Once we figured out the art of communication the distance no longer seemed impossible it was just a temporary circumstance. I learned the value of honesty even if I knew it was going to hurt. God opened up big doors through honest communication and we learned that God will put us in the most inconvenient situations because there is something important the he wants to teach us. And our lesson was the Wade and I are right and our relationship wasn't going to conform to the patterns of this world.

Wade and I saw each other 3 times in the course of 9 months. Christmas, White Out, and Easter. It is a miracle that I can't get my mind around. Our relationship grew to great heights, and Wade became my best friend, helper, and lover. With Wade being in VCOM I got to be a big part of helping him process the big things God was teaching him. Day after day I got to hear his heart that was chasing eagerly after God and as the months went on I grew more and more in love with him and knew that was the unique spiritual leader God wanted to bless me with. I got to encourage him daily in his character and what God was doing in his life. And in my crazy year of moving from Indiana then back to Colorado then deciding to change my major Wade challenged me into not following my plans but God's. Everyday he gave me love, patience, and hope that God was doing a good thing.

It was not easy at times. Some days the voice on the other side wasn't enough in the sea of hard situations life gives you and a big hug or loving embrace would have meant the world. But despite the hardships l we knew that God was going to do something big and we never lost hope in God's plans even if we couldn't see it clearly.

Over Easter I went to Boise and there was a defiant reason I went. It wasn't only to meet the VCOM family or to see and experience how Wade lives his everyday life; it was to encounter him together in a big way and pray about marriage. One night in Boise Wade and I were praying together and the Holy Spirit showed up and spoke to Wade and I very clearly. Simply stated that Wade and I are right for each other and if we truly love each other why are we waiting. God has called us to do work for his kingdom together and getting married at the age of 20 is the first step. Our relationship and now our engagement and decision to get married is God working so deeply in our lives and giving us the confidence to do the unthinkable. But we are learning to be humble followers of Him and together we aren't going to live the average lifestyle. Marriage is a huge commitment and it is something that we are ready for. We are just continuing to grow and marriage is the next step. We are just right and I am learning that more and more. Every day I continue to be amazed by Wade's humility and I am excited because I know I have so much to learn from him.

Wade Yamaguchi it is an honor to become your wife. I love you so much!

Thank you for taking time to read this chapter. Thank you to our friends and family for your support, prayers and words of congratulations.

Wade and Chelsea will be married on June 27th 2009!

May God Bless Your Face Off,

Chelsea Petersen soon to be Chelsea Yamaguchi

Gracie Summer 2008

Just a few shots to capture the last month. I had a great "vacation" here at home and got lots of projects finished! Summer is flying by, but we're having fun and are in and out of home lots these months.

Gracie and swim goggles; zinc oxide all over!; the trash lady; family reunion in Snow Mtn Ranch - Winter Park, CO; Gracie in her usual singing stance; silly swim suit on her head; beautiful black dress, dancing in high heels...........

Gracie has mastered the art of entertaining now. She has found a microphone more than once and starts to dance and sing loudly. I'll have to post a video on U Tube and put a link here. She continues to capture many hearts! She is now wanting to wear panties at night and at nap- no accidents for over a week! Pretty amazing for 2 yrs and 8 months!
