Kirk’s leg is healing up (slowly) on schedule. It is still weak, but is coming along. He doesn’t see himself jogging though at the 3 month mark. He has a good attitude and is doing lots of rehab and excursuses. He’s made a staff shift that we are very excited about. He had hired John Jessup as the new executive pastor- he started today. John is a great friend from the past and the 2 of them work so well to0gether! (A little like the Kirk/Cory relationship that Kirk so misses). John is so qualified for this position. The other 2 executive pastors will stay on but have different roles- Paul will be starting a social justice center downtown that will also be a church. Chalane will be spearheading the assimilation and discipleship process, that was lacking here. Had a great prayer time at the church last week, doing corporate repentance for what has gone on here the last few years. About 40 people prayed through the sanctuary, repented, and then broke curses, and unleashed the Holy Spirit to move again here. It was very powerful!
Wade is in his last week in the Philippines. He goes back to Boise on May 20 and graduates on May 23. He is doing great and preached his first sermon Sunday with a translator! He said it went great! He is looking forward to being home and plans to work with a landscaper this summer. We can’t wait to see him. We’ll be going up there on the 22nd and spend a few days in Boise, then go to Park City Utah for a week away as a family!
Joey is loving his role as learning to do lights and sound at the church. He had a blast at the Super Chick concert- setting up and helping with whatever was needed. He’ll start this summer helping learn audio/video and media. He’s enjoying a few new friends and loves to long board with them. He has decided to home school and we’ve enrolled him in a new program called Mesa Valley Vision- they are a public contract school that gets funding from the state, so we’ll get some compensation and can choose our own curriculum. We’re very excited to get started with this new venture! He has struggled a bit with his life-long friend Justine having a new boyfriend. This is new for them to figure out how to stay friends through this. He rates a “9” as to how he is doing here in GJ (on a scale of 1-10). That’s the best way I can get him to communicate with me as to how he is doing J
Gracie is totally potty-trained now (except naps and nights)! She’s still the funniest little girl. Her new thing is to sing for people. She sings in gibberish briefly, then goes up a key, then gets louder and starts again. This goes on for about 4-5 different “keys and volumes”. Every one who hears her just cracks up and just about falls on the floor laughing while covering their mouths! She imitates people worshiping and loves to worship and raise her hands! She is helping me garden, plant flowers, and dig up dirt!
I got another MRI on my neck and back and it came out normal (thank you Lord). SO, still don’t have any idea what is going on. I did get some great prayer the other night for my tingling. I’ve noticed a little improvement, so we pray this is a progressive healing! I am talking to a guy about doing some testing on hormone levels and thyroid levels. We’ll see how that turns out. I went to a Beth Moore conference last weekend, which was profound for me, to really realize it is TIME to let go of Canon City and start to truly engage here. Between that and reading the book “The Shack”, I feel that I can truly move on. It’s been a tough winter and spring for me, but I’m feeling good about the direction the Lord is taking me. Our pool is open and wonderful! I’ve planted lots of flowers and am starting to work on getting my garden going. The fruit trees and grape vines look great, so we look forward to some yummy fruit this summer! I am going to train for a mini-tri-athalon that is in Montrose in October. That should be fun! We have put in some paperwork for another adoption for a special needs child. China has changed the way they do this area (with those of us who are over 50), so it is a little up in the air, as to how long it will take, or even if we will get a match. Please pray for God’s will in this. We have requested a 2-4 year old girl with minor special needs, so the girls will be close in age.
